Shearing machine for cutting concrete reinforcing rods to length - runs on rails past ends of rod storage racks

An installation for cutting concrete reinforcing rods to the required length has a number of racks (9) to store the rods (1) according to size and quality. A shearing machine (2) runs on rails (12) at right angles to the lin e of the rods (1). The required rod (1) is placed on the conveyor (5) which pushes it through the jaws of the shears (10) onto the platform of the shearing machine. The required length is measured off on the scale (18) and the rod is then held firmly by the hydraulic clamps (14) whilst it is sheared by the shears (10). The sheared rod is then moved to the collecting platform (3). The machine (2) then travels along the rails (12) to take the sheared rods away.
