<p>The gas-tight housing, for electronic devices used in corrosive environments, consists of an outer rigid casing (2, 3) providing mechanical protection and an inner encapsulation (5a) providing the gas-tight seal around the electronic device (4). The inner encapsulation comprises an elastic bellows that expands or contracts so that the gas pressure inside it is always equal to the gas pressure outside it, i. e. to atmospheric pressure. This pressure equalisation ensures that no corrosive gas penetrates into the encapsulation and that no protective gas inside the encapsulation escapes to the atmosphere as a result of pressure differences.</p> |
