<p>1532602 Discharging articles from conveyers; feeding sheets LEVI STRAUSS & CO 4 July 1977 [16 July 1976] 27813/77 Headings B8A and B8R Pallets 4 carrying piles 46 of sheet material workpieces are loaded on to pallet supporters 16 which are supported on and spaced along parallel endless drive chains 10 so that the pallets are supported at vertically spaced positions. The workpieces are sequentially removed by rotating frictional members 52 from the top of the pile 46 on the uppermost pallet 4, a plunger 62 being operative to sense the height of the pile 46 on the uppermost pallet 4 and to generate a signal to drive a motor 34 connected to the chains 10 so that the latter are advanced, thereby continuously raising the pile relative to the members 52. When the pile 46 has been depleted electrodes 64 engage with a conductive strip (66) provided in the pallet 4 which generates a pallet removal control signal which causes a motor 76 to operate, the latter then driving an endless chain 70 on which protrusions 68 are mounted so that one of the protrusions 68 engages a handle 6 projecting from the pallet 4 and thereby draws the empty pallet 4 away from the chains 10, the handle 6 intially engaging a slotted channel 78 while the body of the pallet engages with a bar 80 which is driven by a chain 82 in the direction indicated so that the empty pallet finally comes to rest with its handle against a stop 102.</p> |
