The automatic feeding mechanism is for animals in cages, partic. mink, and has a storage pipe which can be filled from above through the cage roof and is partic. for dry food. The lower pipe end leads into a trough extending past it. The pipe is pref. detachably suspended from the wire cage top (4), while the trough is detachable (3) from the pipe. The overall height of pipe and trough is such that the trough is at a level above the cage floor which the animals can reach. Feed devices (2) can be mounted on the cage top near the top end of the pipe.
