Foil-back inserts are formed by (a) releasably maintaining flat decorative shapes on a support sheet; holding arrangement obtd. such that shapes stay flat and horizontal on supporting surface free from surrounding side walls by temporarily securing them; and (c) casting a measured amt. of liq. plastic compsn. directly on top surface of foil shape in a casting sequence w.r.t. arrangement so that each shape receives a measured amt. of plastic which flows to sharply-defined sides of the shapes forming a positive meniscus without flowing over the sides. Process then comprises (a) allowing compsn. to cure while maintaining support sheet flatly and horizontally, so that prod. gives lens effect to the top surface of each foil shape onto which it has been cast; (e) removing support sheet from supporting surface and shapes from sheet; and (f) using the adhesive-coated bottom surface of foil shapes to adhere insert at their intended decorative location.
|
