<p>A pit matching the shape of wall is excavated and filled with a cement and bitumen composite material. The latter consists of specified ratio of cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate and bitumen emulsion. The excavated area is filled by pouring or injection. This compound is able to withstand earth movements such as caused by earth tremors or quakes without cracking. The dam is made of soil or of stones. Also used to prevent seepage of water into the ground of a dock or it can be used as sealing wall on excavation and tunnel making. The sealing wall is continuous and impermeable and it is able to follow the movements of the ground and will not fracture under the ground pressure.</p> |
