The training projectile has a central bore and the base is sealed by an enclosure which is automatically ejected after firing. The projectile is stabilised in flight within the required trajectory. It travels along the same trajectory as the live projectile yet it is rapidly brought to ground after travelling over the required short distance. The projectile body (10) has braking fins (14) for generating a rotational braking moment, the effect opposing the flight stabiliser (13). The braking fins (14) run parallel to the projectile axis. Alternatively, the braking fins can be arranged partly at an angle to this axis. The projectile base fills the barrel. This base is discarded after leaving the barrel muzzle.
|
