HF coaxial plug and socket connector - has clamping ring with teeth having different slope to those on connecting nut
摘要

The halves of the coaxial connector (10, 18) are drawn together by a captive nut (14) on one half engaging with an external thread (16) on the other. The nut has a ring of saw tooth shaped projections (20) on its end fac e. The male part of the connector has a spring loaded ring (24) with a few, typically four, corresponding teeth (22) on its mating end face. As the nut (14) is tightened the teeth (20, 22) give a ratchet action so that in the fully tight position the teeth on the ring act to prevent the nut from accidentally becoming a slack. To release the connector the ring (24) can be pulled back against its spring by hand. The nut (14) is then free and can be undone. The teeth on the ring and nut have different slopes.
