<p>The transmission elements consists of a pulley (1) having a pair of plates (3, 4) mounted in opposed dispositions upon a shaft (2) and rotatable by a belt (21) in between to rotate the shaft. A liquid-tight cylinder (6) secured to the second plate (4) contains a piston (7) fixed relative to the first plate and divides the cylinder into two chambers (12, 13). A liquid (15) in one chamber responds to centrifugal force resulting from the pulley rotation to move the second plate from the first to reduce the pulley diameter. A return spring (14) in the other chamber returns the second plate as the centrifugal force is reduced and inceases the diameter.</p> |
