Vertical lift gate with low overhead space requirement - has drag cable attached at leaf top edge in addition to suspension cable

The vertical lift gate design requires a reduced amount of overhead for moving the leaf elements into horizontal position following an opening operation. When the opening operation starts a cable drum (6) coils up the cable (3) while a suspension cable (8) is offcoiled. Rollers (16) and (17) and a roller on a bracket (2) move the leaf elements (101, 102) in the vertical part of the guide rail (19) and a roller (18) travels on the bend-part of the guide rail (20), moving the top element (103) into the horizontal position. The element (2) drags the cable (8) which is kept in taut position by a pneumatic spring (14) fitted on a swivelling arm (111).
