The clamping and sliding mechanism is for moving modules on an offshore drilling rig, being hydraulically clamped to the top plate of a girder, and having hydraulically-actuated thrusters and pullers. It has one or more clamping units, working independently of each other with a protruding flange on the top plate, each having relatively short and narrow clamping faces in relation to the plate. The clamping base includes a universal hinge(26) with a bolted disc(40) with a fixing bolt(41) screwed into a clamp block(44).
