<p>In the parent patent a small and compact device converts a web from a card into a roving for the spinning frame, by passing it, bundled together through a conical guide into the nip of a first pair of drafting rollers and on to a second pair of drafting rollers. From the second pair the roving is guided through a second funnel between sensitive measuring rollers regulating the speeds of the drafting rollers and thence to the coiler. In this addn. the device for feeding, drawing and measuring a roving of textile fibres has a guide with a conical bore for feeding a web of fibres from the card to a first pair of rollers. A second pair of draw rollers are positioned downstream from the first pair, and a calibrating detail fits neatly into the spaced between the first and the second pair of rollers, and having an inlet close to the nip between the first pair of rollers and an outlet close to the nip between the second pair of rollers. Mechanisms for driving the first and second pairs of rollers at different speeds for drafting the roving, the rollers of the second pair having respectively a groove and a rib working together so that they act as measuring rollers as well as drafting rollers. A lever pivoting on the frame posns. the calibrator funnel between the pairs of rollers, and mechanisms are provided to open and close the rollers of each pair as well as to alter their relative posns. A single roving can not only be formed from the carded web, but it can also be drawn accurately as it is made in a closed loop system with a much simpler layout.</p> |
