An open topped container is made by lining the walls of a mould cavity for at least part of their depth with a flexible sheet material and then thermoforming or blow moulding a thermoplastic sheet or tube to fit the cavity and bond with the lining except in a zone where vertical inserts are located against the inner face of the lining. Used for mfr. of containers having partially hollow walls for enhanced stiffness or thermal insulation properties, and where at least part of the external insulation properties, and where at least part of the external surfaces are flat or smoothly curved for supporting legible labels or printing. The tool design allows double walled containers to be made in a single moulding cycle.
|
