<p>The aircraft take-off and landing aid comprises an electrically-driven platform driven along the runway on wheels. By accelerating the platform and the aircraft engines at the same time, the aircraft is rapidly brought to take-off speed. For landing, the platform is driven by controls under the aircraft, which alights with undercarriage locked on the platform travelling at the same speed. The platform is then braked to a stop with the aircraft standing on it. More rapid acceleration and braking may be achieved with the platform than with the aircraft alone.</p> |
