The clamping mechanism is for maxillary-orthopaedic arches of metal wire. It comprises a base member with a lengthwise trough (2) accommodating wire arches (3) either sliding or locked in place by means of a pivoting plate or turnbuckle (4) with locking members (5). This is recessed into the base member and mounted on a shaft rotating in it. The plate can be an eccentric mounting on a trunnion shaft, with its ramp face above the trough bearing against the wire. The turnbuckle can have pivoting arms of different thicknesses, and also of different widths, so as to be held by means of a suitable key.
|
