<p>The goods handling truck is moved manually in the horizontal direction to shift small and lightweight items, while there is a motor-driven lifting platform giving a height of lift or roughly 2 metres. A truck has a horizontal chasis running on four wheels and with a vertical 2 m. mast in the form of a tube enclosing a screwed shaft running in ball bearings. A nut works on the shaft, having a component extending through a slot in the tube to support the platform, and the shaft is rotated by an electric motor, preferably at the top of the mast, and supplied by a trailing cable winding onto a drum. The screwed shaft extends beyond the chasis, and the component supporting the lifting platform is a truck with two pairs of guide wheels, running up and down the guide tube on either side of the slot in it.</p> |
