The unit provides individual operation of a merry-go-round horse and comprises a base (2) containing a low power electric motor (13) driving a reduction gear (14). A crank (16) is fixed to the output shaft (15), a ball and socket joint (17) fitting into a connecting rod (18). The rod is adjustable (22) its other end also receiving a ball and socket joint (19) holding the frame (9) to which the horse if fixed (3). The frame's other end is pivoted (10) and as the crank rotates, the rod gives the horse a rise and fall motion, controlled by a switch.
