Temp. survey during welding - using oscillating partial radiation pyrometer to detect defect formation

Thermal inspection of fusion welding of a linear welding joint is claimed using a partial radiation pyrometer, isolating only heat radiation of a given wavelength range, determining the temp. profile transverse to the joint. The measurements can be made 5-15 Hz in transverse movement backwards and forwards. Used in determination of defect formation e.g. at time of formation.
