Foam type fire fighting appliance - increases extinguishing effect of foam by ducting part of propelling gas into jet

The design aims to produce foam with bubbles filled with propelling gas instead of oxygen-containing air. The cylinder (1) has a valve head (4) with a handle (7) screwed on its neck. The valve head comprises the jet orifice (5) with an attached riser pipe (6) reaching into the cylinder up to its bottom. The valve head also contains units for holding in place the cylinder (8) filled with pressurized propelling gas. The top of this cylinder is fitted with a handwheel operated valve which when opened releases propellent gas via a connecting bend (9) into a rising pipe (10) delivering thereby the gas into the foam-producing compound inside the container (1) and induces foam to leave via pipe (17) and jet orifice (5). The gas space above the compound is connected by a short channel (14) with the stream of foam flowing through pipe (17) thereby increasing the amount of foam containing a great amount of propellent gas-filled bubbles.
