PURPOSE:To record and reproduce in high frequency region at high performance by positioning the open ends of a pair of leg parts of main magnetic pole towards a magnetic recording medium and constituting the auxiliary magnetic pole in a thin plate construction so that the auxiliary magnetic pole may be positioned within an extended plane of the open end of the main magnetic pole leg part. CONSTITUTION:When a recording current flows in a coil 2, a magnetic flux as shown by dotted line is generated, thereby composing a closed magnetic circuit with bottom part 1b - leg part 1a - magnetic tape 4, auxiliary magnetic flux 5 - tape 4 - leg part 1a - bottom part 1b. This magnetic flux creates a residual magnetic flux on tape 4, thus recording with this residual magnetic flux. In the event of reproduction, the residual magnetic flux on the tape 4 creates a magnetic flux in said closed magnetic circuit, and a voltage is induced on the coil 2. The magnetizing direction of tape 4 is in the direction of film thickness thereof. Thus, utilizing the features of the vertical magnetization method, recording and reproduction in high frequency region may be performed at high performance. |
