PURPOSE:To resolve N-chloroacetyl-m-hydroxy-DL-phenylglycine into optical isomers by the use of cultured product of specific microorganisms. CONSTITUTION:Bacteria belonging to Thiobacillus strain No.5886 (FERM-P No. 1665), Azotobacter strain No.1736 (FERM-P No.18), or Mycoplana strain No.5702 (FERM-P No.1662), are cultured in a medium. By contacting the above cultured medium or its treated produce with N-chloroacetyl-m-hydroxy-DL-phenylglycine, N-chloroacetyl-m-hydroxy-L-phenylglycine is selectively hydrolyzed, and the DL- isomer is separated to the optical active m-hydroxy-L-phenylglycine and N-chloroacetyl-m-hydroxy-D-phenylglycine. |
