A system for the sterilisation of liquids, such as swimming pool water, comprises passing the fluid close to a source of UV radiation injects, in addn., ozonised air into the liq. The air to be injected is ozonised by passing it also close to the same source of UV radiation. This combined treatment achieves an optimum utilisation of the radiation energy.
