The hydrodynamic torque retarder is fitted near each wheel and drives a retarding circuit as well as a blower to cool the heat exchanger. There is a modified valve system which shunts the retarder when not in use and maintains a pressure level in the supply reservoir. The blower is designed for enhanced cooling while the pressure in the reservoir ensures that the retarder is brought into action as soon as the control is set, without having to wait for a pressure build-up.
