<p>A bolt (1) with a radially projecting lug (18) is incorporated in a catch for a pivoting bonnet (22) of an automobile. A plate (7) is keyed to the bolt and engages alternative stops (8, 9) defining the active and inactive position, the bolt being mounted rotatably in a fixed sleeve (2). Rotation of the bolt by an integral hand-lever (6) causes the lug to climb a ramp (24) onto a normal retaining face (25), a coil spring (5) allowing axial bolt movement and providing a retaining force. A segmental spring (11) spans the plate and a support (3), bolt oscillation causing the spring to pass its dead point and act to retain the plate against either stop.</p> |
