<p>An appts. for removing wall-paper by means of steam comprises a boiler resting on a base provided with a burner and surmounted by a water feed tank. The water feed tank is connected to the boiler by a feed pipe for charging water to the boiler and by a pipe admitting the steam pressure of the boiler into the feed tank. The burner is pref. fed by liquefied gas, e.g. butane or propane. The boiler, the base and the feed tank are pref. cylindrical. The boiler may be of the fire-tube type or may be double-walled. This avoids disadvantages of existing equipment for using steam for removing wall-paper, e.g. that they have no means of refilling the boiler. The machine can be used continuously and avoids lost time for refilling. The appts. may be used also for plucking poultry; removing posters; sterilising; softening leather for making foot-wear; softening wood for curving; and disinfecting.</p> |
