Explosion-proof electrical appts. casing - is constructed with flame trap and filter for deionising and cooling escaping combustion prods.

The explosion-proof casing(1) is used for electrical appts. e.g. motors, luminaires, or transformers, situated within a dangerous zone. The casing(1) has a mechanical resistance sufficient to oppose the force of an ignition of the gases contained within it and incorporates a flame trap(3). The flame trap is metallic and communicates with the interior of the casing (1) at one side and is sealed at the other side by a disc(9) having a predetermined resistance to allow direct escape of the combustion products. A replaceable metal filter is inserted in the flame trap(3), forming a cellular structure with a given porosity for cooling and de-ionising the escaping combustion products.
