Crawler track chain link fixing unit - uses tight-fit dowels between upper and lower base plates in addition to bolts

The unit secures the relative position of the upper and lower base plate of a crawler track chain link, relieving at the same time the stress on the bolts holding together these two parts. The upper and lower parts of the chain links are held together by bolts (5) fitted through holes (18', 19') in the side parts of the plates. The two parts are tightened together on corresponding plane surface by frictional forces produced by the bolts. In order to relieve the bolts from having to take up also lateral shearing loads, when the two parts tend to slip against each other, blind holes (17) are provided on the plane surfaces of both parts into which dowels (7) with a tight fit are pressed when the two parts are bolted together. The dowels take up these shearing loads.
