The process is intended in particular for the cleaning of perforated slatted sand coolers in large foundries. Each slat (10) is designed as a flat box and one slat side is perforated and serves as support surface for the sand in the upper part of the endless belt. The reverse slat side has holes (13) for feeding air. The slats are passed below a sound wave source (21), for example a pulsator type Kockum TP 150. This pulsator is operated by air pressure and generates infrasound waves. When the pulsator is in operation, the infrasound is radiated through the hollow space formed from the plate (14) and the rubber strip (15) and through the slit (13) into the current slat hollow space (10), where the varying air pressure shocks cause loosening of the sand so that the sand falls off the slat. The activation of the sound source is controlled by an inductive transmitter (25) which, through the plate (14) and the hollow space dispersed below it, scans the slit (13) in the slats passing below the plate. By means of this process it is possible to remove sand from the slats of the sand cooler in an economical manner. <IMAGE> |
