The deflection of a stretched cable which leaves a mass perpendicularly is guided by a device having a flared channel which surrounds the cable. The cable strands of the cable portion which pass through the channel engage members which are capable of a certain variation in angular position with respect to one another. The members comprise flat, rigid rings between which annular layers of solid, elastic elastomeric material are interposed. The cable strands pass through the rings. Used for guiding the deflection of cables, such as stays, mooring cables, cable-ways or cable bridges. The stack of rigid members present a certain longitudinal flexibility which enables it to be adapted to the curvature of the flared channel wall and transmit transverse forces due to the curvature of the cable. The stack maintains the cable strands in relative mutual posn. and retains the geometry of the cross-section of the cable. |
