Compression mould tools with ancillary consolidation rams - where the ram head forms non-planar mould profile

Tool for compression moulding is fitted with an integral ram to enlarge the cavity for filling and to pack and consolidate the moulding after the tool is shut so that the ram head is aligned with a part of the mould surface which is not flat. Closing of the mould prior to packing the cavity minimies the generation of flash at the parting line of the main pair of mould tools. Alignment of the ram with a non-planar part of the moulding avoids creation of a non-function flash mark or step at the junction between the ram zone and the adjacent moulding.
