The chopping unit comprises a receptacle (20) for the chopped fruit or vegetables and a chopping board (10e on which the vegetables etc. are chopped wherein this chopping board is detachably fastened to the receptacle (20) by magnets (15) or other suitable holders. The upper horizontal plane of the board (10) is mounted above the upper edge (20a) of the receptacle or changes steplessly into the peripheral edge. The board can be adjusted in height by telescopically extending legs, side walls or the like. The chopped fruit etc. can be easily transferred from the board to the receptacle and then to any other container required without any particles being dropped.
