The stabilisation circuit is used with a microwave oscillator whose active device, e.g. a negative resistance device is located between the broad faces of a section of rectangular waveguide operated below its cutoff frequency. The distance between the active device and a coupling slit in the narrow face of the waveguide is roughly 6. The coupling slit between oscillator and resonator is chosen so that the latter determines the former's frequency.
