The sail has an aerofoil profile with a slenderness ratio of 10% to 15% as to give a greater forward resultant force onto the mast. The leading edge of the sail is attached to the forestay (11). The forestay is fitted in between canvas reinforcement strips (12) mounted along the leading edge of the sail. The sail is made up of two identical panels (13, 14). The trailing edges are fitted eyes for the sheets. The trailing edge has a closing strip (17).
