<p>The mineral fibres are pozzuolana made by melting a raw material (c), and react with the residual CaO to form a calcium aluminiumate-hydrate. The thickness of the fibres is such that the unreacted part of the fibres is more than twice the thickness of the reaction surface zone on fibres nc), i.e. in which CAH is formed. Fibres (c) are pref. obtd. from fused boiler slag produced in burning hard coal; whereas material (b) is finely milled pozzuolana, e.g. trass, Santorin, French gaize, diatomaceous earth, or fly-ash. Cement (a) pref. has a low initial CaO content. Fibres (c) have high resistance to fire, and the concrete prods. have improved fire resistance as compared with cement-asbestos prods.</p> |
