In the granulation of fine K or ammonium sulphate granules using a high pressure roller press., the goods are pre treated with water, steam or an aq. salt soln. to give a moisture content of 0.5-2.0 wt.% and a temp. of 40-50 degrees C and the temp. is kept below the condensn. temp. of steam throughout the granulation process. The prod. is obtd. in the form of flakes with high mechanical strength, which form little dust during handling. The goods to be pressed have an average particle size of 0.2 mm and the press operates at a peripheral speed of the rollers of 0.1-1.0 m/s and a pressure of 1.0-6.0 t/cm roller width.
