<p>1509526 Bearings RANSOME HOFFMANN POLLARD Ltd 29 April 1975 [29 April 1974] 18675/74 Heading F2A A composite ring 1 (Fig. 1) in a rolling bearing comprises a relatively thin metal support 2, a relatively thin metal track member 3, and a resilient packing 4 adhesively bonded to both the track member and the support, and maintained therebetween in a state of compression. The support 2 and the member 3 are rolled from a mild steel tube and a bearing steel tube respectively. The packing 4 is of rubber or a polymer. The support 2 and the member 3 can each be made from two pieces (Fig. 2, not shown). The ring may be shaped to provide a mounting flange (Fig. 5). In further embodiments, the packing is provided by a thin strip of resilient material (Figs. 6 and 7, not shown), or is formed by a compression or injection moulding process.</p> |
