A method for heat treatment of sewage sludge to improve dehydrating properties was descri- bed. Preheated sludge obtained by the heat exchange of hot continuous flow was rapidly heated to 190-240oC within about 240sec, so that the heating time is inverse proportional to the heating temp, and then cooled by counter-current heat exchanger. In primary sludge, the filtering force is at least 49kg/m2/hr, while for sludge activated to increase the COD until 3% it is 15kg/m2/hr.
