The instrument for extracting a tooth crown or bridge from one or more ground teeth has a hook-shaped insert engaging at the gingival area. It has a sleeve inside which a sliding sleeve partly fits, a compression spring being pre-loaded when the two are compressed together, and locked in the compressed position. This spring acts against a core weight with a large inertial mass, and on pressing a trigger the weight exerts a sharp blow on the insert via the sliding sleeve.
