Slag removal from internal wall of blast furnace - via pneumatic chisel fitted on turntable platform clamped against furnace wall by hydraulic jacks

The device consists of a platform fitted with three horizontal hydraulic arms spaced at 120 degrees intervals from each other, and driven outwards to clamp the platform against the interval wall of the furnace. The underside of the platform is fitted with a turntable carrying a swivel arm on which a chisel is mounted for removing the slag. The pref. device uses a platform assembled from two round or polygonal plates sepd. by a gap in which the hydraulic clamping arms are located. On the upper side of plate is an electric motor driving a hydraulic pump fed with hydraulic fluid from a tank. The plate also carries hydraulic valves used to drive hydraulic rams functioning like telescopes to move the chisel arm. Provides a simple by efficient device which can be suspended in the furnace from a crane and operated automatically.
