The machine stand (1) is constructed from a mixture of sand and gravel, which is bonded with plastic. To save material and weight, a foam block (2) may be cast in. Erecting aids (3) and mounting surfaces (5) of metal may be produced in their finished-machine form and, appropriately positioned, cast into the machine stand (1). The machine stand may likewise be provided with guiding surfaces (4). Due to the use of plastic as the binder, dimensional changes caused by fluctuations in atmospheric humidity, decomposition caused by cutting fluid and shrinkage during hardening are avoided to a great extent.
