The invention provides a vapour generator comprising a housing (1) containing a heat exchanger (2) that is designed so that a heat transfer agent can move therein in a liquid or vapour state, and a heat-retaining material (5) that is arranged so as to be capable of heating the heat transfer agent and bringing about the transition thereof from a liquid to a vapour state. The heat exchanger (2) has at least one inlet duct (3) for supplying a heat transfer agent in a liquid state, and at least one outlet duct (4) for discharging the heat transfer agent in a vapour state. The heat-retaining material (5) is disposed in a solid state in the housing (1) of the vapour generator, which comprises a means (6) for heating the heat-retaining material (5) to a solid-to-liquid phase transition temperature and maintaining the material in this phase transition state. The vapour generator comprises a means for monitoring the phase state of the heat-retaining material (5), and a means is mounted in the inlet duct (3) of the heat exchanger (2) for supplying liquid heat transfer agent to the heat exchanger in an amount that ensures the complete phase transition of the liquid heat transfer agent in question to a vapour state when heated by the heat-retaining agent (5) in the above-mentioned phase transition state. |
