The arrangement is used for placing a screw cap on to a bottle. The bottles are moved on a conveyor (1) towards a guide passage (6, 5) which receives the caps and lowers them as they move along in the same direction as the bottles. Once placed on the bottle, a spring-loaded finger (16) engages the side of the cap, thus rotating it relative to the moving bottle by a small amount. The cap guide may contain spring-loaded strips to press the cap down onto the bottle top as it moves.
