<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the catalyst of wide window widths and superior durability which comprises carrying oxides of Pt, Rh and Cr and alkaline metal chlorides on carriers and which purifies 3 components of NOx, CO and hydrocarbons in exhaust gases in either of reducing atmosphere and oxidative atmosphere with high efficiency. CONSTITUTION:Oxides of Pt, Rh and Cr and alkaline metal chlorides of sodium chloride, potassium chloride, etc. are carried on carrier such as of alumina to provide the catalyst for purification of exhaust gases. The amounts of carrying of the respective components are about 0.1 to 30%, preferably 0.5 to 15% and particularly preferably 0.7 to 10%. Pt and Rh components are about 0.01 to 5% in equivalent total weight of both metals, preferably 0.03 to 1%, and the Pt:Rh (weight ratio) is about 1:0.01 to 20, preferably 1:0.05 to 10. The Cr oxides are about 0.01 to 3% in Cr equivalent, preferably 0.04 to 1%.</p> |
