1510513 Rotary distributors; contact cleaning ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 16 May 1975 [31 Oct 1974] 20791/75 Heading H1N An ignition contact breaker for an I.C. engine comprises a plate 10 carrying a spring biased lever-mounted contact 21 and a cooperating contact 29, contact 29 being mounted on a sleeve 64, e.g. of plastics, rotatable through a limited angular range by engine vibration and/or a vacuum diaphragm (not shown). Movement due to engine vibration is limited either by a spring, e.g. a coil spring 70 (Fig. 5), or by a cam (37, Fig. 1) engaging in a slot in plate 10. In the arrangement shown the plate 10 is mounted on a plate 66 whose angular position is varied by a vacuum diaphragm. In an alternative arrangement (Figs. 6 and 7, not shown) the sleeve carries a cam (80) which co-operates with a plastics coated slideway (81) in the fixed base plate 65 to pivot the sleeve in response to the pivoting of the plate 66 by the vacuum diaphragm. |
