Air flow meter in IC engine induction - consists of bimetallic plate mounted in venturi and connected to lever and transducer

A flowmeter is designed to be insensitive to temp. changes. It may be used to measure the amount of air drawn in by an IC engine. There is a valve plate (2) installed in a venturi and displaced by the flow of air into the engine. It is connected to a lever system (6) to operate a transducer. The valve plate is cut from a bi-metallic strip and it bends with changes in temp. to correct for the effects of the temp. changes on the airflow.
