<p>A drive electric motor for a roller such as a self-propelling roller comprises a drum rotatably mounted on a fixed axle and coupled through a speed reducing gear to a rotor of the motor in known manner. The rotor consists of a hollow shaft (9) rotatably mounted on the axle (2), carrying a rotor winding (12) and connected to the reducer gear through a pinion (19), the rotor being constructed in known manner. The stator comprises a wire-wound magnetic circuit (13) which is moulded in a two-part resin moulding (14' 15') which is keyed at one end to the shaft (2) by a pin (17) and receives the stator in its hollow interior, the other end of the moulding being rotatably mounted on the shaft (9) by a bearing (16) and annular spacer (26). The resin prevents vibration and movement of the wires of the circuit (13) and provides improved heat conduction and dissipation over previous constructions and enables an increase in power with reduced cost and simplified mechanics. The moulding of the resin allows a greater accuracy in centring the moulding on the axle (2).</p> |
