An electrophoretic system of investigation of chemical substances for use, e.g. in hospitals effects the electrophoretic transport in the layer of a carrier medium which is held between at least two movable foil elements. Each of the facing ends of the carrier medium is in direct contact with a buffer soln. in an electrode container. After the electrophoretic transport at least one of the foils is removed and the flat surface of the carrier medium layer is exposed. This system can process larger quantities of sample liquids at a higher sensitivity and the reagents are used under optimum conditions.
