PURPOSE:To provide an oral cavity composition effective to suppress the deposition of sordes on tooth and prevent the dental caries and pyorrhea, containing galactose or an oligo sugar having galactose group, as an active component. CONSTITUTION:A composition such as toothpaste, mouthwash, troche, chewing gum, etc. containing 0.001-10%, pref. 0.1-5% of one or more saccharides selected from galactose and an oligo sugar having galactose group at the non-reduced terminals, such as lactose, arabinose, methylglucoside, etc. Supposedly, the composition inhibits the proliferation of oral bacteria in saliva component adsorbed to the surface of the tooth, and prevents the deposition of sordes on the tooth. |
