Connector and housing construction is for a unit suitable for use on the m.d.f. of a small electronic telephone exchange. Earth shrouding and earth multiples discharge any static electricity when a technician plugs in test leads or works on the frame. The connector houses varistor h.v. protection units, with spring contacts to ensure good contact on the earth multiple connection, and to house an adapter element to extend the earth rail forward if some insert units are not required. The connector block is housed in a 'U'-form housing with a connector insert for wiring. A varistor is inserted at the rear of the connector block and makes contact with the earth rail which is extended forward using a spring-held adapter unit.
