<p>A parking area for automobiles has a hydraulic or pneumatic actuator inset into the road surface that has a carrier plate supporting the front road wheels of the vehicle. Once the front wheels are located on the carrier plate the actuator is operated to lower the wheels a short distance below the surface. In this position the vehicle cannot be driven away. The double acting hydraulic or pneumatic linear actuator (7, 8) is inset into a rectangular section channel (6) in the parking surface. In particular the system is used in hotel car parking areas. A switch located in the hotel allows remote energisation of the main solenoid actuated valve to allow the actuator to lower the front wheels slowly.</p> |
